Proverbs16: 33 The lot is cast into the
lap,
But its every decision is from the Lord.
But its every decision is from the Lord.
Do you believe in coincidences? This little
Proverb seems to have two sides – the first one speaks of the lack of
coincidence in our lives. Nothing comes to us by chance, nothing is
happenstance. If we are walking it out,
it passed through the Lord’s hands first. Some things are uncomfortable and hard
to imagine that it passed through the hands of God before dealing its terrible
blow. Yet, for reasons we can not
understand, all things pass through the hands of our loving Father.
I am reminded of a story that was told to
me at our Bible Study last week. A woman
was dying of cancer and her husband was not a believer. She was sure that in
her healing, her husband would come to know the Lord. IT didn’t happen the way
that she thought, she lost her battle to cancer, in the crushing of her life,
the sweetest aroma of Jesus was released and her husband caught wind of
it. He became a believer through the
gentle crushing of the reed that was his wife. She was healed, not in the way
she imagined. Her eternal birth brought a wayward sheep into the fold. No coincidences.
The other aspect of this little Proverb is that
we are to plan and we are to seek Wisdom in our future plans. As we enter into the decision making process
and “throw our lot” to see where we are directed, heavy prayer would ensure our
faith that the Lord is directing and the Lord has a plan. Seeking Him in all we do, trusting that He is
in our tomorrows, leading us in
His ways we cast our die, trusting the
outcome lies in His will and in His highest good for our life.
